Smita has over 20 years of experience in General Dental Practice. She graduated from the University Of Bombay in 1995 and achieved her Fellowship in Dental Surgery Of The Royal College Of Surgeons Of England in London. She worked in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at various NHS hospitals (Central Middlesex Hospital, St. George’s Hospital, Kingston and Roehampton Hospitals). Smita has also been an Educational Supervisor for the Oxford Deanery for 9 years. She enjoyed this role which was aimed at training and guiding newly qualified dentists into their future careers. During this period, she also did her Postgraduate Certificate In Medical And Dental Education at Oxford Brookes University.
She has completed her Certificate in Conscious Sedation which offers the options of Intravenous and Inhalation Sedation to anxious patients who find it difficult to cope with dental treatments. Smita believes in a kind, calm, caring and compassionate approach when treating her patients. She likes to take the time to get to know her patients well, understand their needs, and believes in working with them as a team, and at a pace that is comfortable to them. She ensures that she discusses all aspects of treatment with her patients, to enable them to make an informed choice. She likes to make every effort to establish that her patients feel understood and have a comfortable and relaxed experience at their visits.
Smita believes in ethical, minimally invasive dentistry and enjoys all aspects of general dentistry. She is committed to post graduate education and is pursuing further education in restorative dentistry including composite bonding. Smita enjoys working with children to make dental visits fun and engaging as well as with adults to ensure that they have a positive and stress-free experience. She is a dedicated professional focused on delivering the best care for her patients.
Outside of dentistry, Smita enjoys creative pursuits such as watercolour and gouache painting, sewing, and baking. She also plays the violin and has recently successfully taken her grade III violin exam. Smita has a keen interest in astronomy and likes to observe the night skies with her telescope and binoculars. She also enjoys watching documentaries on space, wildlife, and travelogues.
